Description
Professor Ilka Kostka is a Teaching Professor and Academic Director in the NU Immerse and Global Pathways Programs at Northeastern University in Boston, Mass. She has taught a range of English language courses to international students at Northeastern for more than ten years, regularly implementing flipped learning to enhance student-centered instruction. Her current work focuses on developing professional learning opportunities that prepare educators for AI-enhanced instruction. She is the co-recipient of the 2024 Ron Chang Lee Award for Excellence in Classroom Technology, presented by TESOL International Association, and a semi-finalist for Magic School AI’s Educator of the Year Award.
Outside of Northeastern, Dr. Kostka is Vice-President of Literacy Volunteers of Greater Worcester, whose mission is to develop adults’ English language and literacy skills to foster economic and social empowerment. She also serves as Deputy Chair of the Women in Higher Education Fellowship, hosted by Professors Without Borders. The Fellowship aims to empower women from around the globe with professional development, networking, and mentorship.
