Making a commitment to training focused on establishing pervasive cultural responsiveness is a serious undertaking and requires the involvement of all stakeholders. For this reason, we offer the following training options for those who work outside the classroom.
Offerings
Needs Assessment
If you are not quite sure where to start with your district, a needs assessment may be the perfect jumping-off point. We can come to you and help you pinpoint areas where we could help make a difference. This service is in-person and includes site visits to selected schools and offices. It includes:
● Review of District Documents and Data
● Interviews with Instructors, Staff, Administrators, Families
● Site Visit with Classroom Observations and Debriefing
● Report with Recommendations for SLIFE Programs and Services
Intake/Central Office Personel
This training focuses on creating a welcoming environment for students who have newly arrived to a district. It is designed to be an in-person workshop in two parts, each lasting two hours. This can be delivered for up to 50 participants.

Administrators
We believe it is essential for leadership to understand the needs of SLIFE. This in-person training is designed to establish MALP® Programs and Services for SLIFE. It is conducted as 1-day training or 2 half-days, for up to 35 participants. It includes:
● Who are SLIFE?
● Culturally appropriate intake process
● The literacy classroom
● MALP® overview
● Program models
● Home-school connections
A Q&A and discussion based on needs and interests of participants will follow
Training of Trainers
If you are ready to commit resources to your SLIFE population and wish to conduct your own training, we also offer to train your trainers. This can be in-person or virtual, in cohorts of up to 20 participants. The TOT includes a total of 30 hours of training conducted in 3-hour blocks.
Participants have readings, videos, and interactive tasks to complete between sessions.
The following strands are woven throughout the TOT sessions.
