We offer a variety of online MALP® training options for teachers, administrators, and support staff, both K-12 and adult education. Our workshops and institutes offer a research-based approach and practical, hands-on tools for addressing the needs of students with limited and interrupted formal education (SLIFE) as well as other struggling culturally and linguistically diverse learners. MALP® half-day and one-day workshops provide a solid introduction to the MALP® instructional approach; MALP® two- and three-day Institutes provide full training on the MALP® instructional approach for implementation.
Now available: 15-hour totally ONLINE training on MALP® and culturally responsive-sustaining education. Three 2-hour synchronous sessions and nine asynchronous hours of interactive tasks, such as video lessons with embedded questions and shared interactive reading activities. Optimal scheduling takes place over a three-week period. In the spirit of flipped learning, pre-work and follow-up are included in the training.

I am honored to recommend the leadership of authors and researchers Dr. DeCapua and Dr. Marshall in the development and facilitation of professional learning focused on SLIFE. Their deep knowledge in the field of
multilingual learners who have interrupted formal education supported the launch of the Connecticut SLIFE Action Committee in June 2022. Dr. DeCapua and Dr. Marshall strategically built participants’ background knowledge surrounding SLIFE, and subsequently connected that to the MALP Framework. Over the course of a five-day intensive workshop, participants engaged in building a deep understanding of how to create collaborative and supportive educational experiences that center learners’ conditions and needs. Daily sessions were multimodal, engaging CT educators in professional readings, interpretation of data, and experiential videos. They modeled synchronous online flipped learning (SOFLA) techniques and offered numerous ways to interact with other participants and new content. Dr. DeCapua and Dr. Marshall prepared CT educators in the very beginning of our statewide endeavor, and we look forward to partnering with them again as we continue to grow, develop, and learn.”
