Lesly Garcia is a bicultural and bilingual educator. She is dedicated to serving multilingual learners (MLL). In her developing teaching career, Lesly has experience working with various student populations in the context of Special Education, World Languages, English Language Development and SLIFE (Students with Limited or Interrupted Formal Education) in Massachusetts. Currently, she serves as an ESL teacher for middle school SLIFE in Waltham Public Schools. Driven by her personal experiences as a first generation, immigrant Latina, she is an advocate for establishing equitable, student-focused culturally-sustaining classrooms for diverse learners. As a Mutually Adaptive Learning Paradigm – MALP® practitioner, her work is focused on bringing culturally-sustaining theory into practice. She has developed and presented at MATSOL to share these practices with other educators.
